Entries are open for the 2025 Farnborough Winter Half Marathon.
We always claim that the Farnborough Winter Half Marathon is the coolest race in the UK. In 2023 it lived up to that billing: the temperatures dropped to -6C just before the start, the toilets froze and drinks station teams had to literally break the ice to serve water to passing runners. The one big upside was that the cool conditions were good for running and as no one wanted to stay on the course longer than they had to, times were quick. Robbie Simpson led home the half-marathon field in 1:05:23 and Hannah Pullen took the women's title in 1:18:35. Further back there were 85 runners under 80 minutes and 282 under 90 minutes.
In 2024 it was a little less cold but a lot windier. We had another year of great times and happy runners. For 2025 we have decided to not go ahead with the 5k and stick to the kids run and the half marathon. We are sorry for anyone who this inconveniences.
Although we celebrate the winners and highlight the quality of the times at the front, we are just as proud of those local runners who have taken their first racing steps at the Farnborough Winter Half or 5K. We don't have a cut-off and if you are worried about running outside three hours, don't be, you won't be alone. To help runners towards the back of the field as much as those at the front, we added a Run/Walk pace group to our pace teams after much positive feedback!
We have now confirmed the date for 2025 as Sunday February 9th and we will be open for entries on March 1. The course is unchanged and the field for the half marathon will increase to a maximum of 3000 with the option for a kids run, which is starts 20 minutes after the half-marathon. As you will see from the prices there is an incentive to enter early, and don't forget that this is a popular race. In 2024 it was sold out by the end of December.
