SPONSORS

Our New Presenting Partner

Farnborough Airport is proud to be presenting sponsor of the 2024 Farnborough half-marathon. Farnborough and its airport have a unique place in aviation history. The first UK powered flight took off from the airfield in 1908 and today the town’s airport is known across the globe for hosting the world’s pre-eminent aviation and aerospace trade event - the Farnborough International Airshow.

Striving to be an employer of choice and responsibility, Farnborough Airport currently supports 3,000 jobs locally, with approximately 75% of its employees living within a 10-mile radius of the Airport. This makes it one of the region’s largest employers.

When it comes to its people, health is a high priority at Farnborough Airport, with a dedicated team in place to protect and promote a supportive, open and positive culture around physical, social and emotional wellbeing.

For those looking to get fit, it offers schemes which gives access to tax-free bicycles, while those running or walking into run work can earn tokens, which can be exchanged for vouchers towards online sports retailers.

Farnborough Airport also plays an active role in funding the development of local facilities. It wants everybody to be able to enjoy the variety of local parks and communal facilities and services as they were intended – to be of benefit and bring enjoyment and wellbeing to local people.

Over the last 13 years, it has resulted in more than £850k in grants to enhance community areas that include school playgrounds, local parks and nature reserves, grassroots sports teams and other community projects.

It is hard to think of another location where the airport and its local area are so ostensibly defined by one another. Together with its community, Farnborough Airport wants to build a better future.

Our Charity Partner

Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict. With the help of Combat Stress, veterans can tackle the past and take on the future.

To help veterans rebuild their lives, the charity provides a range of free services online, in the community and at our treatment centres including psychiatric and psychological treatment; substance misuse management; art therapy; occupational therapy; peer support; family support; online self-help materials and a 24-hour Helpline (0800 138 1619).

Robert Marsh, Director of Fundraising at Combat Stress, said: “We are extremely grateful to be the Charity Partner for this event.

“Last year almost 14,000 veterans benefited from our help, with demand for our services remaining constant. Every donation we receive helps us to meet the needs of veterans who turn to us for support. Our specialist treatment doesn’t just change lives, it saves them too.”
